Built as the production home of The Sum of All Wisdom and the creative work of Catey Creative Media, Ravenna combines the intimacy and flexibility of a private project studio with professional audio, video, remote-recording, and field-production capabilities.

From music and spoken-word recording to podcasts, voiceover, live performance, video, and location work, Ravenna is designed around a simple principle: capture the performance well, preserve its character, and give it the attention it deserves in production.

Recording & Sound

At the heart of Ravenna's studio recording system is the RØDECaster Pro II, providing multichannel recording, high-quality preamps, flexible routing, processing, and monitoring for music, voice, and podcast production.

Our microphone inventory allows us to choose the right tool for the source rather than force every recording through the same signal chain. It includes the Electro-Voice RE20, RØDE PodMic, RØDE NTG5 shotgun microphone, MXL 770 large-diaphragm condenser, and a matched pair of sE Electronics sE8 small-diaphragm condensers, along with appropriate pop filters, windscreens, stands, booms, and accessories.

That gives Ravenna considerable flexibility: close-miked voice and narration, conversational recording, acoustic instruments, stereo instrument recording, live performance, ambient sound, and location work.

A standalone soundproof recording booth and custom acoustic treatment provide controlled environments for narration, voiceover, vocals, and other critical recording.

Music Production

Ravenna is also a music-making studio.

Our production environment combines traditional microphone and instrument recording with a modern software-instrument workflow centered around the Arturia KeyLab 61 mk3. Its integration with Arturia's instrument ecosystem and Native Instruments/NKS gives us access to an extensive palette of pianos, organs, synthesizers, sampled instruments, percussion, textures, and sound-design tools.

Music can be built from live performances, overdubs, MIDI and virtual instruments, with individual tracks, buses, effects, automation, and stems retained throughout the production process.

Recording, editing, arranging, and mixing are handled in Logic Pro and REAPER, allowing Ravenna to move comfortably between songwriting and experimentation, acoustic recording, multitrack production, voice work, and finished mixes.

Podcast, Voice & Remote Recording

Ravenna is the recording and production home of The Sum of All Wisdom and is purpose-built for long-form conversation as well as music.

For remote recording, Riverside provides locally captured high-resolution audio and video from participants around the world. Source-Connect extends those capabilities to professional remote voice and directed recording sessions.

Our workflows preserve isolated sources wherever possible, giving us considerably greater control over dialogue, music, ambience, processing, repair, and final balance during post-production.

For narration, audiobook, and voiceover work, Ravenna combines the controlled environment of our vocal booth with dedicated microphone chains and REAPER-based recording and editing workflows.

Field & Location Recording

Not everything worth recording happens in a studio.

The Zoom H6 Essential provides Ravenna with portable multitrack recording for interviews, musicians, performances, environmental sound, and field work. It can operate independently to SD card or as part of a computer-based recording system, allowing us to bring studio-quality multitrack capture into homes, performance spaces, rehearsal rooms, and the field.

This mobile capability is particularly important to Ravenna's work: sometimes the sound of a place is part of the story.

Video & Post-Production

Ravenna is equally capable on the image side of the equation.

Our video-production kit includes Sony ZV-E10 and DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro cameras, supporting studio recording as well as highly portable field production. Riverside provides synchronized remote video capture, while our broader production system supports multi-camera and location-based workflows.

Post-production is centered on DaVinci Resolve Studio, combining professional video editing, color, graphics, effects, and Fairlight audio post-production in a single environment.

That allows a project to remain under one roof from initial recording through picture edit, sound design, mixing, color, mastering, and final delivery.

One Studio, Multiple Ways of Working

Ravenna can operate as a controlled recording room, a music-production environment, a voiceover booth, a remote interview studio, a video-production space, or a mobile field-recording rig.

Our tools matter, but they aren't the point.

The point is listening.

Technology should disappear into the process—allowing the musician to perform, the speaker to speak, the conversation to unfold, and the story to emerge without the equipment getting in the way.
